Newspaper Clipping - First Reunion

Newspaper Account of the First Grosvenor Reunion

Sue Abraham had this newspaper clipping detailing the first Grosvenor Reunion (which we assume was in 1948).

"The  first   Grosvenor   family   reunion was held Sunday, Sept. 7, at Fort Kaskaskia near Chester, with a fine dinner at noon and fun afternon of visiting.

Those present were:    Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kessel, Mr. and Mrs. Har­old   Dixon, daughter  Roberta and son  Merle,  Mr. and  Mrs. Chester Kessel and family, Mrs. Anna Lee Grosvenor,  Mr.   and   Mrs.   Clifford Ray Grosvenor.   Mr. and  Mrs. Al Strobl,   Carl   Ray   Grosvenor  and Paul  Claybough,  all of Murphysboro. Mr. Fred Grosvenor, Mr. and Mrs. French Grosvenor,  Mr. Fred Saul, Mrs. Thelma Ingram and son, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Jarrett and childen, Molly Ann, Kay, Danny and Kenny; Mr. and  Mrs. Ernest  Pyron,  and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grosvenor, all of Jacob, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Grosvenor, daughter Geraldine and son Leslie Allen, Mr. Park Kessel and Mr. and Mrs. .Kenneth Saul, all of Ava, Mrs. Connie Nelson and son Charles, Vernon, Billy and Harold Welch of Rockwood, Mr. and Mrs.  Robert  Grosvenor and daughter. It appears the date is 1919 on the car.

Fred and Martha Grosvenor, Howard and Anna. Howard was born 11/01/1891 and Anna was born 03/28/1893, so this picture was probably taken late 1893-early 1894.

Parker and Louticia Grosvenor with youngest children, daughters Mattie and Edna. Picture probably taken around 1891 or 1892 as by dates in family history, Edna was born in 1887 and she looks to be four or five years old in this picture.

John Parker Grosvenor: Born 02/13/1833; oldest son of John and Agnes Grosvenor.
He went by the name Parker.

Married: 1) Eliza Jane Herring:
Born 1837; died 01/23/1862,
Date married: 05/14/1854.
2) Louise McBride Hiser: (1833-1878)
Date married: 08/30/1864
3) Louticia Frances Keaton (1844-1919)


The "Phoenix Grosvenor's" - I think there were a total of 18 that came in from Phoenix this year!!

The 60th Annual Grosvenor Reunion. I believe we set a record number this year with 105 in attendance! The youngest was 7 weeks and the oldest 97 years!
